1/4" tape and 8mm Film From my Studio 1976!!!!

WoooooHOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Dig this!

My friend's mom just mailed me a 1/4" tape AND an 8mm color film that was from a session I engineered with my band in 1976! It was filmed/recorded at my studio which was 1" 8 track and had a 16 x 3 United Audio console.

The 1/4" tape box is labeled "Echidna's Arf" which is a Frank Zappa piece, but I don't recall this band playing it. I did record that piece with a drummer where I pleyed everything except drums, but I don't think this is what is on this film or tape.

I'll know in a few hours!

I also found pictures from the same studio when I aquired it from around 1975.
Ampex 1" 8 track (model 300 transport with AG440 electronics)
Ampex AG350 2 track deck
Ampex AG350 mono deck
TASCAM Model 10 console (yikes!)
Philips spring reverb
two UA 175s

I still own and use the JBL T38 Baron monitors!

I'll post these pics soon.

I watched the film last night..

It was band made up of friends and a few band mates, but I didn't play.
I am engineering and sitting at the console.

The console is the United Audio 16 x 3.
It looks so cool!
It is grey (obviously) with the same black knobs as present day UA stuff and it has RED Langevin fader knobs!
You can also see the Ampex 8-track (300 trans with AG440 electronics)
The Ampex AG350 is gone but there is an Ampex AG351 (?) which was the first solidstate model they built.
There is also a 4 track Dokorder visible as well.

The startling part is seeing myself at age 21!
LONG dark hair, a HUGE mustache and rock star/record producer clothing!

I am having it transferred to DVD today.
I am going to TRY to marry the 1/4" audio to the video in iMovie, but the speed probebly won't match.
I'll get something.

I have to get it transferred to DVD first!
I'm taking it by the place that'll do it today.
They say it'll take 10 days.... why? I don't know.

I am then hoping to get it transferred to iMovie where I'll attempt to marry the audio on the 1/4" audio tape to the picture.

I am hoping the film speed at the transfer will be close enough to the speed that the original camera ran at in order for the audio to match up.

I'll futz around with it and it'll work to some degree.

I need to scan the pics from 1974 soon.
I'll post them when I get it done.
