Clicks at the very beginning of PT sessions

Hi folks!
Sometimes I get clicks in the very beginning of sessions. Even when quick punch is not enabled and when I am just playing back the session from time ZERO.

Yes, no problems with clock neitherHD fragmentataion. Based on this issue, please take a look the following quote I have just extracted from EQ forum, basically a thread bashing PT but with this amazing info from IZ President. Sorry if this already been posted on here. ( probably MM, T...)

Here it goes:

Summary/Conclusion:
1) You must use Auto-Fade to avoid pops and clicks in your audio.
2) Auto-fade crossfade soundfiles are NOT written to the disk and are therefore NOT part of the audio.
3) If you lose your auto-fade values you will get pops and clicks.
4) The maximum auto-fade crossfade length is limited to 10 ms so if you want long crossfades on edits or punches your going to have to do them manually.
5) If you have alot of edits in a small region the DSP will have to do all of the crossfades of several audio files to one track in real time during playback. If there are multiple tracks it may mean that for short periods of time(during the crossfades) you have way more files being played/faded than the system can handle and you will get DSP error messages in addition to pops and clicks

Just to confirm, I also had Bill Heath go down to OmniSound today in Nashville and try this out on their ProTools system. Protools does indeed generate pops and clicks when Auto-fade is off and when it is on there are no crossfade sound files in the audio folder - only fade files in the Session so transferrring these files to another manufacturer's system would yeild pops and clicks unless you do a bounce.

Even though Barry is no doubt a nice guy, one cannot help but notice certain word usage in this quote that are meant worry the PT user into believing an 'either-or' popping scenario. This is simply false and misleading.

You DO NOT need to use Auto-Fade in order to avoid pops in PT. By manually fading after each edit or batch fading after many edits, one can achieve a popless mix. And to avoid losing fades at any point during a session transfer, you simply render (consolidate) all fades into the audio files.

Don't forget that Barry is the man behind Radar and has every natural intention to make his product stand out as the better digital recording device, even if his bias manifests through unconscious word selection.

sure. In fact there are lots of myths under PT like the poor stereo image, clicks, the lack of 50 hz, the 888/24. Some people believe and buy it, some not...

Also, the consolidation changing audio quality and so....

BTW.. I never use the batch f..

thanks

sure my friend!

However one thing that amazes me is that many times when I reimport a 44k/16 already masterd track, originally ceiling limited at -0.1db with no red lights at all, I get zero flashes inside just freshly opened PT sessions.. It seems the bounce does some funny thing.

It also happens ( not always) when I am bouncing twice:
48k/24 stereo track to 44k/24 multi mono to 44k/16.

NO HD fragmentation at all no clock problems I guess so.
