Basement Studio Dwellers

Hi everyone, I thought I would attach a drawing of my studio plan for fun. I'm about 90% there. The Smartdraw program rocks! Looks like a GIF file might work. Too bad I can't post pdf -- cause they really look/work great.

Best,

Mack

Nice job. Very similar to the studio I'm building. John Sayers did the layout for me. I'll try and create a pdf of the plans.

I've also got some low ceiling issues and a steel beam in the control room to boot.

Here is a rough view; instead of windows I'm using double sliding doors between the control room and studio areas.

Hey Retro,

Cool plan. I like youre control room/surround setup. I didn't have room for non-parallel walls. I did all the construction as an experiment to get up and running first. I will be adding another recording space up from my stairs where I will build a family/home theatre room with vaulted ceilings. This will be a more flexible acoustic space.

I have to say that things sound pretty nice so far in my small control room -- the 703 did wonders, but part of the reason it seams to be working is that allot of low-freq energy is able to get out through the ceiling to the livingroom above. I still have to build my panel trap for behing the couch, and I am going to build a small QRD for giggles, also using John Sayers slot design for the rear corners.
