converter upgrade: hd192 v. hd24xr?

has anyone a/b'd these 2 units (that's the motu v. alesis) that cares to comment?

specifically, on the quality of the converters?

second, has anyone used the hd192 on the pc, and how are the drivers? is it more stable than earlier motu products, which didn't work so well on the pc? (i'm still using logic and I don't want to switch... but i know if it doesn't work i'm out of luck...)

finally, is anyone using the alesis as the front end of a daw? how do you do that, exactly, i.e., (i know the unit has ethernet and a firewire option) but how does this work for u practically speaking? do u have to transfer the tracks back to the alesis for mixdown? is it a giant hassle, or is it worth it?

btw, price point is about $350 less for the motu (12 channels) than the hdxr24...
