Rme fireface 400 setup mixer,help!

Hello everybody.

I purchased today a rme fireface 400.

I hooked the monitor cable in the outputs of the RME but I do not know how to set up the (virtual)Mixer of RME to get the right sound for mixing and recording.

Can somebody who also has a rme fireface give me any information to that?

How to set up the rme soundsource in the computer.

It would be great

Thank you and greetings

It would help if you would tell us if you have windows or mac OS and also what DAW program you are using. Tell us what your setup is, what kind of monitors and such. Did you install the software that came with the RME? I think you would also get more replies if you would have posted this in the Music computers Forum.

Im using windows 7(intel core i5),
Monitors : adam a7x.
Cubase 5 , reason 5 .
There is no volume knob to simply control the volume level of the studio monitors.
I have to set it up in the RME MIXER(software which is included) and there are choices like, ADAT,ANALOG,SPDIF etc.
The mixer includes : INPUT,PLAYBACK,OUTPUT,SUBMIX.

My aim is basicaly to set the soundsource of the RME right,so that I can use it for recording and producing without not knowing if something is wrong.

Thank you for the answer!

I don't understand your problem. TotalMix isn't that hard to handle. Maybe you should take a look at the manual.

First of all you have to set the Fireface as your Audio-Device in your OS and Sequencer.

In TotalMix you have three rows of faders. First one for input signals(for input monitoring), 2nd for playback signals (playback of any source like itunes or any sequencer) and the last one for your output channels.(volume for monitors).

RME has a good user forum if you don't find the answers here.

I believe DonCorleone explained what you need to do very well, he also told you how the Total Mix mixer works. I've had my FF 400 since 2006 and it's very easy to use. I use channel 1-2 (Main Out) to my amp that powers my Pro Ac monitors. I use the headphone output on front for my headphones, very simple.

Make the manual your friend. Took me a while with my 800, but I got it.
