ULN-2 vs HEDD

Hi guys,

what is your opinion about the AD DA section on the ULN-2 compared to the HEDD,
at 24/48?

This seems an odd comparison as the two are intended for such different applications, Yiannis, albeit both with AD/DAs.

I haven't heard the ULN-2, but do own a HEDD which I use as my analogue insert for mastering; it's had the new AD and DA boards fitted and sounds very good in the role I use it for. I haven't done extensive comparisons with other converters, but it certainly does what I ask it to do - from where I sit it's about as good as it gets and others, such as Bob Katz, agree. And then there's the digital processing, but that's a whole 'nother thread...

Although I think they're unlikely to sound bad, should the ULN-2 converters sound as good as the HEDD I would be very surprised, and if they sound better, consider me officially astonished.

Thank you for your reply1

Deffinetly I am talking about a comparison on the AD DA section WITHOUT any proccesing from the HEDD .

i own both and i think that the ULN has a wider stereo image.
From The HEDD's side I think that it wins at the LM freq part.

thats only my opinion and I would like other users to offer their comments please

Interesting that you own both.

Do you have a recent HEDD, or have you had the board upgrades? If the answer to both is 'no', then you might want to consider having the boards fitted - the old HEDD AD was always very good, but the DA is now noticeably better than before to my ears. The boards are not that expensive, well worth it IMO.
