Thread Starter | Are there any good drummers that will record DFH midi files?
Hi I live in Australia, and have used a couple of the session drum services in the US for songs in the past. The results were varied - my main concern is that when the songs went to the mixer, some of the actual sounds weren't up to scratch. I am thinking about getting DHF, because I like the idea of the audio quality, but I really need midi files with it to kick start my programming. Then I got to thinkin' - 'are there any drummers out there (and I'm talking well known session drummers) who will record a live midi performance for your song, which is set up for use in DFH? So basically like the many session drum services that are available, but with the added flexibilty of the performance being midi so that things can be changed as the song evolves, and the sounds can be changed on a whim. Anyone know of a service like this? Thanks! Shaun www.gilbert.net.au |

Good idea. I'd be interested in this also. Although, you'd probably easily find good drummers here in Oz. |

FWIW I've been using BFD, and it's pretty cool as a writing tool for drums thumbsup

Why don't you see if you can find Rick Latham. He's here in L.A. but I'll bet you could set something up for him to record MIDI on your tracks and email you the files. -R |

shaun, there are plenty of guys ( including myself, and tooskid here at GS) that can do what you need. If your looking for a "name" specifically, there are a couple guys as well that can be contacted. Here's the warning: to get a guys feel, playing kit ( unless he's adept at say, drumkat and dkfh) he's probably going to be playing a Roland ( or similar) pad kit, and just writing the midi- It's best, if possible , to have the guy using DKFH as the sound source, so as to accurately translate. alot of times when I've done midi tracks ( kit) for folks, the sounds they choose after the fact can really dick with the feel- AT LEAST get them in the ball park by choosing similar tones to those that are going to be used in the end- another thing you may want to try, with whoever does it, is to record Live cymbals. One thing you may want to take advantage of ( i do this quite a bit ) is producing the track via isight/ video conference- works great. I know a couple guys in OZ btw that are great session players, and could probably sort you out... what style are you looking for?

Hi Craig The style in poppy/ rock Here's a link to the mp3 demo: http://people.aapt.net.au/~celebrity...abyhereiam.mp3 A guy in OZ would be great - cheaper phone calls! he may even live close by. I'm near Wollongong, NSW Thanks Craig BTW - I've only just bought DFH and it hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't had a chance to see what sounds I like to tell a drummer what kit to use, but I agree with your idea. |

Hi Craig That track is just a demo of the song - I'd want completely new drums, but with that general feel. Thanks! Shaun |
