Thread Starter | I have an idea for the site... Good or Bad? idk but its called "The Audition Room"
One of the things I feel there is a lack of floating around on the internet is sites that have samples of the sounds of different gear. The listening sessions does an incredible job at it but if you are not looking for any of the things that are on there then you are out of luck. I realize that auditioning in a store of some sorts is always the best option but is sometimes not an option for many people. The idea is that there could be a section where people post recording samples in different categories for example: Hip Hop Rock Punk Orchestral Acoustic Etc... Then subcategories: Preamps Mics AD/DA Converters Effects Then another subcategory with the equipment... kind of like this Rock > Preamps > Neve 1073 inside one of the post the person could explain their chain like: Rock > Preamps > Neve 1073 Here is a small rock sample the vocals are through a Neve 1073 > U87 combo tracked through Nuendo using a Wizooverb. then this sample would also go in the Rock> Mics > U87 section Rock> Effects > Reverbs > Wizooverb LOL now that I think about it this sounds like a lot of work but even if it was slow at first one would have to think that in a few months there could be a pretty large library of gear samples. So what do you all think good, bad? Any changes you would make? Too much work? I'm just throwing this out there so be easy. I'm sensitive |

Are you looking for this to be a fun site or a serious one ? I ask because if you are planning to use samples from slutz around the world to contribute there is no way you can keep it balanced. Because of the different factors, and you may not be making ¨the gear¨justice. In order for this to work, it would have to be 1 player or band, doing the sessions in one room. If this is about fun go ahead. Would be very cool.

I agree that something like this could be very useful...I was going on about that a while ago...people on the internet love to spend hours and hours talking about gear and whether it's good or not...but when you bring listening into it, well, that's a useless waste of time...something I've never understood....
