how many of u use hardware fx within your DAW?

Hi,

I'm talking about using hardware FX units within your DAW in a mixer free setup.
Is it worth the extra adda conversion?

I'm mean I have an old SPX90 which I don't use,
should connect it to my rig (Cubase SX3, Motu 896HD),
will it integrate smoothly?

Thx

I use a Lexicon MPX1 for my reverb. Takes a huge load from my computer, and sound way better than the Plugins I have. Just have to deal with Latency, but for revb. not to bad...find ways around.
Cheers...................Joaquin.
PS. You can also get recall with midi.

I have done some simple conversiont tests on my system: record something in, copy it to another track, flip the phase so it nulls. Then put that track out and back in for a DA/AD converstion.

The difference (after adjusting for latency) was _very_, _very_ small.

So I have no concerns about doing this to a handful of tracks but I usually only do it for drum submixes.

I normally record two of each in during tracking. One effected (compression usually) and one dry. If I over used something, then I use the dry track.

But that is rare.

"Test" your system and see if it makes a difference that you can or cannot live with and then decide from there.

Good luck,
David

I use Ableton Live 5 and send to and from by spdif to a Lexicon MPX 550.
Works great.
Except that I need to get a better Lexicon.
