SSL G384... what is the "audio fade" section?

What is the audio fade section on a SSL FX G384? Sorry if that's a dumb questions.

It auto fades in or out when you press the button.

the reason it's so nice is because the fade happens post-compression, so the gain hitting the compressor doesn't change during the fade thumbsup

wish my C2 had it.

You can get a lot of fade possibilities if you are wiilling to move the fade duration knob during the fade

BUT...

Wouldn't you wnat to save that option and sonic info for your mastering engineer? If I do the fade outs (even if it is a great fade in the compressor) that kind of locks mastering in, right?
