Out of rack room... safe to put power amp on the floor?

Is it safe to put my power amp on the floor underneath my console? I ran out of room in my rack and I have no other options right now. It's a Hafler P7000 and it puts off a lot of heat, but mainly through it's fan which seems to be well ventilated...anyone have any thoughts or experience with this? Is it safe to stack anything on top of it? I don't want to start a fire, but the amp has thermal warning lights that have yet to illuminate. Thanks.

Yeah its fine as long as you don't step on it or kick it.

I've broken power switches this way.

The only thing to keep in mind with the Hafler if the fan is noisy.

If so you may want to move it.

Yeah, it's a little noisy, but nothing that I'd ever worry about... it's powering my secondary monitors so I can always turn it off for a little while if need be. Thanks Thrill. You da man.

Take off the top cover, disconnect the fans, put it on it's side against the leg of the furniture holding up your rig and you should be golden.

I have several pieces of equipment where I've disconnected the fans but took off the top cover [air circulation is air circulation... you actually get better air circulation with the cover off and no fan than you do with the cover on and a fan].

Vacuum out the inside of the unit on the first of every month [pay the rent, vacuum the gear] and you'll have no worries.

Best of luck with it.

If you're laying flat, just be sure the feet are installed on the unit. If this were a 5000 I wouldn't recommend it, but I found the 7000's to be more stable as far as cooling or any amp problems. If you put it on it's side, which I've done many time to conserve space and for day sessions, throw some zip ties (or whatever your part o the country calls em) around the unit ties to the leg o your furniture/console - ya don't want the amp falling over.
