Is this mid side or what please?

How is this being miced and any idea what the mics are ? Is this figure 8 on top pointing left and right or is it just two cardiods pointed at him.

looks like they are both pointing at him. just getting a blend, printing 2 options for mixing.

would you expect cardio pattern for both ? i know it's just guessing.

any ideas what mics those are ?

The top mic looks very U47-ish (probably a 47 clone of some kind). The bottom mic is a Microtech Gefell UM 900.

So does this give a stereo image or just two mono signals for mixing? Do you have to take phase into account, if so how?

two mono options, either could be used individually or blended
Phase is definitely taken into account by visually making sure the transducers (pretty gold disk thing inside) of both mics are aligned perfectly, and listening very carefully for any phase issues. Sometimes, I like to use a percussive instrument to make a loud click or snap or something, and then check in Logic (or whatever) that both mics are indeed picking up sound at the exact same time. haven't done that in a while though
