| I may be shot for giving away trade secrets....but....you will be amazed at how good better mics sound with a less expensive, but solid preamp. My suggestion--try a Rane MS1b first before you make the big investment. |

| lol at petsematary, but he's right. my comment is whether or not you need a whole chain or just a strip..? if you need a vocal strip, think about the STT-1 Origin or the 737. Both are well used in the industry and known. If not, then the HV-3C by Millennia, the Great River pres, the GML pres (and I personally like the Wunder PEQ1 for it's sparkle, and will be adding one shortly) are all good choices. |

Thread Starter | [QUOTE=Yoda117;1095999]lol at petsematary, but he's right. my comment is whether or not you need a whole chain or just a strip..? It was exactly my 1 year old question Before all, thanks for your input. I learned a lot since then. Basicly I want to add just a pre to my chain since I already have a SafeSound P1 comp/limiter and a MetricHalo ULN2 interface which have a very nice and clean preamps so I thought that I should add someting with "character". At my disposal I have SM7, RE20,MD421 and AT 4047 and 3035. And that where a single channel Great River NV1ME came to my mind-using strictly for voiceovers when "balls" are required : ) (in combination, for example, with TLM49) Cheers, Sven |
