Like the Gearslut I am...

I'd just like take a moment and give credit where credit is due...

The acoustic guitar thread on here totally got me salavating for a new acoustic and so I started thinking Larrivee. I kind of thought about this for a bit but knew I wanted to play one before I bought since I've never played a parlor before. In my mind though, I'd made space for a $500 dollar guitar purchase...no problem.

Fade to Saturday morning. Roll out, and decided to swing by the evil place known as Guitar Center just for the hell of it. Hop into the middle of an all out frenzied guitar sale from hell and they were marking stuff down left and right. I hopped into the acoustic guitar room and played a few guitars but not much was floating the boat and then I found it.

I picked up a Martin D-18VS (Vintage Series). This thing's a replica of a 30's style D-18 as I understand it...and it's so sweet. I was not there to buy this guitar though, so I played a bit, loved it and then left the building but not before the manager saw me playing it and offered to knock off more $$ and it got even less expensive.

So I went away and I thought I was all cool thinking how I wasn't so hot for the Larrivee anymore, but then I realized the Martin had taken it's place instead. Damn.

To make a long story shorter, I went back, played it again and just fell in love all over again. 12 fret guitar, action like butter, lovely sound (balanced and not huge, but not thin at all), 1 3/4 inch nut - perfect for finger picking. Platinum card please. $1800 out the door with a case that could live through falling out of an airliner.

I had to wear my Gearslut T-shirt today just to do fess up to the truth. My name's Lee and I'm a Gearslut.
