Oz Studios in DC?

I've been revisting the Shudder to Think album "Pony Express". Holy Moses is that an amazing sounding record. It was done at Oz Studios in DC. I believe that it's now defunct. Does anyone know how that record was done? I've looked for specs on Oz and came up dry.

Oz was/is in Baltimore. I helped build it and worked out of it for many years. It's now a place called Select Tracks. PER was only recorded @ Oz, and was mixed by Andy Wallace in NYC (who replaced all the drums BTW, not that i have a problem with that) Drums were tracked on an Ampex MM1100 2" 16 track. Slaves were made to the Studer 827 and those drums tracks weren't played again til mixing. The console was a Trident 90 although Oz had a good selection of pres. i wasn't directly involved in the recording but i almost mixed it until the label decided to enlarge the budget and go for AW. i've still got original mixes on a DAT somewhere. hope this helps.

Mixing ITB? Just because you're not good at it, doesn't mean it sucks.

Drew,
Thanks a lot for the info. I lost my album cover a few years ago. I did not know that Andy Wallace mixed the record. Maybe I did but it slipped my mind. The tones on that record are amazing. Gtr tones are mind blowing not to mention the songs are incredible. If you had anything at all to do with that record, I say job well done. Take care Drew.
