I would like to get my ears checked out...

...I've already invested so much into the sattelite dishes attached to the side of my head, and I'm finally getting health insurance, so...

I've been getting some pain in my ear canals that comes and goes, and generally, I feel like my ears need to be professionaly checked and/or cleaned. I've read some past threads related to this, but my question is....

an audiologist or an ENT?

Also, if anyone can recommend a good one of the above in the NYC area, I would be very much obliged.

Both. The ENT will likely want a hearing test in order to treat you. They will probably both be in the same office. Ask the ENT if he has treated musicians.

The first one I went to hadn't - he suggested that I learn to deal with the pain in my ears. The next one said yes, he had treated musicians - had I heard of Miles Davis?
