Digital cable in mic cable service?

I have it on the very best authority that 110-ohm digital cable is excellent for analog line level service. That is now my experience, also. (Thanks for the good advice!).

My question is:
Is there a reason it would not also be excellent for mic-to-preamp service? Impedance problem? Distance problem?

I'm talking about Canare DA-206, instead of Gotham GAC-3 mic cable.

Should be OK. You need -
Good shielding
low capacitance if the cable's long
Low handling noise (sometimes matters)

Somebody in that other thread was worried about the 110 ohm impedance of the cabe - that's irrelevant at audio frequencies if the cable is less than about a mile long!

Digital transmission cables are generally spec'd to tighter standards that audio cables- lower capacitance& higher bandwidth. Good reasons for them to sound better.

I slowly change all my cables to digital standard. Like afforementioned, specs are at least as good as analog cables and so I have to have only one type of cable.

A lot of big studios, make the whole installation with digital cables so they can use any line for analog or digital.

Adebar,
Are you including the mic-to-preamp cables when you say that, or only line level?
Thanks,
Mike

Other comments on using 110-ohn digital cable specifically in mic-to-preamp service?
