ilok license & transfer

I'm trying to understand exactly how ilok.com works.

I know there's a transfer fee of 25$ per license. What I'm not sure of is how it works when you sell the physical dongle.

If I have an ilok loaded with plugins registered to my account, can I sell the physical ilok to someone else and avoid transfer fees? Will the licenses get transferred?

Obviously the licenses are on that key, but with no ownership transfer how does the new owner get possession of them? I know they can open the software with the dongle, but do the licenses stay in my account? Can you insert an empty unregistered ilok, dump the plugs on it (even though this is done through my user account) and sell the licenses without fees???

Help please

Ok, if I remember correctly, here's how it works in your case...

You can sell the dongle with all the plugs, but the buyer will not be able to register that iLok to his iLok account... which means that he will not be able to synchronize & transfer those plug-in authorizations to someone else later. Instead, the iLok will still be attached to your account. (Of course, you can't synchronize and transfer those plugs either, because you won't physically have the iLok in your possession.) So if that's not an issue...

But unfortunately, the only way to avoid this is to transfer ALL the licenses off that iLok to another one of your own iLoks (so you will need two). Once it is empty, you can transfer that iLok to the buyer's account. Then you will need to pay the $25 per license to transfer those to the buyer, who can then synchronize and store those licenses on his/her new iLok.

best way is to buy a new ilok.

register it.

transfer all your (for sale) licenses onto it (you can transfer within same account for free).

unregister it (you're allowed to do this within 7 days of first reg).

then your buyer can re-register it in his name and have all the licenses on it.

hey.

i bought audio ease altiverb via ebay including an ilok.
i understand how it works if you only sell the transfere.
but in this case i bought both cause i have no ilok.

so now i created a new ilok account.

we already registered the software licence on the audioease page to the new owner.

but what can we do now with the ilok?
the thing is i bought a waves bundle and can´t use it cause i have no ilok that is registered on my name.
so i really don´t get it.isn´t there any possibility to transfere the physical ilok?

if its not possible, i have to get a new ilok.
thats the next question, i ordered pro tools 9 but theres a delay on delivery.
so does the Pro Tools9 crossgrade include the new ilok2???? or do i have to buy one before i can use PT9???

i thought that it will be uncomplicated to buy altiverb, transfere the ilok account, register my waves bundle and everything is cool.
but seems like if its absolutely not so easy as i thought.

hope anyone can help me with that.

thanks

Would this be the better option if you're only transferring one license? I ask, because i'm getting the impression that for one license transfer on ilok.com, it's only going to be $25, whereas a new ilok will cost more than that.
