is this the same as the "ns10 trick"

been reading old threads about using a speaker as a kick mic.. v.interesting,

went to the studios all ready to wire up an eminence speaker when my friend said why not jst plug the out put of a monitor wedge into the pre instead?

i did, it worked.. low end subby kind of sound..little detail..

is this the same as the NS10 trick... as far as my wiring brain goes i guess it should be but will the inferior cheap monitor speaker sound "worse" than a decent speaker ?

who knows? any one out there??

Well, you'd be hard pressed to find a woofer worse than those found in the NS10s.

essentially the same...using a speaker as a microphone.

Probably sounds a lot different.

"whatever works"

I used to do the same thing with a Tannoy DMT-10. It works great and it seems the bigger the speaker the lower the frequency of the sub track.

Anyone compare the Yamaha Sub-Kick against an NS-10 in the cabinet and notice that the NS-10 still sounds deeper and better? Made me relegate the sub kick to floor tom use.........

I agree though with Picksail. You can find a better woofer for this "trick" than the NS-10.

And to actually answer your question. Yes its the same gimmick.....
