I just bid on AC/DC's "Back in Black" and "For those About To Rock" on vinyl.

I've been listening to these albums on cassette, CD, various versions of MP3........But the music is simply too good to neglect.

180 gram vinyl, Near mint condition.....Can't wait. Expect a drunk review. :/

I AM SO GEEKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anybody else purchase vinyl after listening to the cd or mp3?

Have been bitten by the vinyl bug myself. Acquired all of my sisters' old 33's and 45's. Cyndi lauper's she so unusual, the beach boys' endless summer, and Janet jackson's control were among them. I already had thriller and had bought this awesome old console stereo to play/listen to them. Since then I have bought van halen 1, the bodyguard soundtrack, and the original star wars soundtrack. Man these warmth and scope of this medium is amazing. Big old transformers, resistors, and capacitors make for a fat huge sound. That along with the solid wood construction. Long live vinyl!

Back In Black has been one of my first vinyl purchases back in the day and is still one of my favorite recrods (production, music and whatnot-wise). I still have it. Nothing beats listening to a new vinyl album with the sleeve in your hands and smell it. Vinyl covers smell sooooo good.

My CD listening experience is usually destroyed after 30 minutes of unsuccessful attempts to get rid of the foil around the damn jewel case (which I hate to touch, feel or smell... the case and the foil...).

There's simply no "experience" in downloading an MP3...

On a side note, I bought the digipak remasters for High Voltage and Back In Black. I literally had to cut the treble by about 6dB on the console to get through the discs. Seriously I've just about f-in given up buying any new CD "remasters" of classic material. Absolute bloody abortions through and through. Gone back to buying old vinyl and the old ear drums are much much happier...

Personally I don't buy remasters. My opinion is, if the music was good enough to remaster, why not just listen to the original?

I did buy some Jimi Hendrix remasters, the album the assembled from 'crash landing' and 'rainbow bridge' but that was because the originals are kinda rare.

AMEN. This is one album as a whole that doesn't get the attention it deserves, IMHO. Sure, eveyone knows "For Those About to Rock" and a couple others, but the feel of this album when played end to end is ridiculous, and it is just one of those albums that sounds twice as good on vinyl. The vinyl feel and sound compliments the recording exceptionally well.

That album on a good player through a nice tube stereo will make your jaw drop when cranked.

I'm pretty sure I still have my vinyls of those two.. from when they came out. I think I need to put them on and give them a good listening.

I don't like the remaster either. Actually nowadays I usually look for used CD's just because a lot of the re-releases are remasters. I don't know of many remasters that are improvement of the original, except maybe the "Yello" albums.

I have the CD and Vinyl copies of Back in Black but I usually end up listening to the CD just because the low end seems to be better (maybe just the quality of my vinyl playback system).
