do you think that this is a bad idea?

one of the my racks is really hard to get to the back of, so i remoted the xlr ins and outs to a rack panel somewhere easier to get to (aprox. 10' of cable away) BUT,

i also remoted the SPDIF ins and outs of my masterlink and rosetta 200 onto the same panel (again, adding 10' of cable) i used good cable and neutrik connectors with gold contacts.

bad idea for jitter or other reasons?

If you are talking about S/PDIF coaxial (RCA) and it is really good cable, I do not see any problem.

Although you do appear to have a cumulative length from Masterlink to Apogee of 20 feet. Is this correct?

If you do not need separate access to these unit's individual connections, why not just leave them hard wired in the rack?

Either way, so long as the cable is good and appropriate, I think you should be OK.

TosLink optical is a different matter and I would not recommend such lengths.

yes it is coax.

thanks for the help, actually, i didn't make it clear but cable lengths between the rosetta and masterlink is actually 13' total, with the panel mount in between. (they're actually in 2 different racks, i was trying to make a long story short)

keeping them connected is a good idea but I often throw my 002r in the loop.

thanks again. -jeff
