Thread Starter | Best "Bang For the Buck" A/D Conversion Options I currently have 8 channels of MOTU 824mkII and 8 channels of Behringer ADA8000. About 80% of my tracking is 2-channel. Around 15% uses between 2 and 8 channels. About 5% uses more than 8. So, I'm thinking of getting a good 2-channel upper-mid level converter (Apogee Rosetta 200 or Lavry Blue). Would I maybe be better off getting some kind of wordclock distribution (like a Big Ben) and upping the quality of all my existing AD's? To put it another way, given my 80/15/5 split, how do you think I can get the biggest overall improvement in AD quality for around $1,750 US? |

| If i were you, I go for the LAVRY Blue AD. I have these. I have tested them against a couple of other ADs and they are exceptional. They changed my entire perception of what good digital is. When you buy the Bue AD, you get the MSync board in the chassis as well. It is a Word Clock circuit with standard BNC output. Read some of Dan Lavry's comments on the myths behind some of the marketing on the external clocking thing. With the Blue AD you get better converters, and a WC to sync everything up together. |

| Lives for gear | People are raving about the Kurzweil Rumor / Mangler used as converters. I have one on its way - should be here by end of the week. Will report back with my findings... Michael |
