How about a mixing contest?

Anyone interested?

Been thinkin about this for quite a while. Nothing where people can show off
what great gear they have, but an opportunity to show nice tricks!

Lots of organizing work to be done to get this happen...

- where could we provide files for download?
- who provides a song?
- would we need separate leagues (hi/lo end)?
- .....

I could provide some tracks with decent musicians on them. Maybe i could
even provide a song or some overdubs.

Anyway, i´m sure this could be fun. And we can learn a lot!

What do you think?

Like i said it´s not for "showing off". It´s for learning purposes.

There should not be a prize to win.

ps: don´t scream, we´re not deaf.

Sorry man, I just hate when music is turned into sport.

An experiment on how different people treat a tune can be really fun.

Why not? That is the real world. Best man wins and makes all the loot.

No problem!

Was my fault. Should´ve described the idea a little better.
How could we name the thing? "Contest" gives indeed a wrong impression...

if there would be somebody hosting all the files & formats etc . there will be a lot of people signing up to the mixing " contest " . lets find a company putting some $$$ in for a price and the hosting . theyll have nice P&R .

Yeah, we have to find a good solution for the hosting problem. Not sure about
the prize, tough. That would mean we need a jury and a certain goal to achive...

It's good fun and a bit of a learning experience if you have the time to spare. Check this thread:

How about "the (non)-official Gearslutz groupmembers mixing experience"?

Greetings,
Dirk

P.S. I'd offer to record drums for a track if we have to/want to supply new tracks.
