ulysses, steve, nathan and whoever invented, uses or pimps this new beast, has anyone made experiences with using the rms755 on the channel mixing or even tracking? what works, what doesn't? cheers istvan |

It's very versatile, even though it's 'one sound'. But that sound is a very expansive and tight sound. If I could break it down into what compression or limiting is used for (at least with what I do)...there is vocals, bass, drums, acoustic guitar, & two bus. It works well on all of these. Where as with say an opto, I don't prefer most opto's on acoustic guitar or drums (and they usually link like crap on two bus, although the Pendulum and Buzz units work transparently in that application). And most FET compressors that I've tried aren't always the best on overheads or two bus. So this fills in some gaps and offers some additional tone shaping choices for where other types of comps might traditionally be used. Good luck.

thanks nathan. anyone else made some specific observations. like some people say they like the dramwer 1968 more for bass than for summing or love the alan smart for piano... istvan |
