well? I've been thinking about the twins or dynaudio BM15A's... leaning towards the twins as I think the lean more towards the "audiophile" side of the spectrum... thoughts?

I do not want monitors that require a sub, do the twins deliver on the low end?

Yes they do and very well. Focal spec shows, pretty much, flat down to 40Hz but a well run-in pair may achieve 36-37hz before roll off.

As I always say, check them in your own room before buying but, just as important, make sure your dealer loans you a run-in pair, especially if it is low end you're after.

The BM15a has a mid-range scoop that I find difficult to work around. That's just me though.
They have an excellent low end though and are very easy on the ears.

They do require some breathing room though and IMHO are almost a "mid field" monitor.

The Event Opal seems to be the monitor compared to the Twins these days.

I spent many weeks searching out all the monitors when I went shopping for new monitors. I found the Twins were the least expensive good 3 way system out there. The 3 way or 2 1/2 way system it offers, allows you to hear the mids in a way you just can't hear with a 2 way system. That is because the woofer does not have to provide all the lows and mids out of the same speaker. The quality of the Focal Twins and Solos are better than the Adam Ax series or Tannoy Prec series with better components inside. That does not mean the other companies monitors are not good..... They are still monitors that you can obtain good mixes on. Yes the Twins do have enough bass and with the contour switch you can add even more bass if you so desire. Not one monitors character will suit everyone's taste though. Some love Genelac, others Adam, other Dynaudio etc. so it's best to really hear them in your studio with some good acoustic treatment in your room.
