SO MANY NEW MODULES AND UPDATES!!!

Lost track of this thread for a bit, and I know the front page needs to be brought up to date. If y'all could lend a quick hand - as there's lots of info afoot, would someone (or multiple someones) be so kind as to list here, by manufacturer, any new modules (and related pieces like racks/mixers) that are NOT on the 1st page of this thread?

I don't want to miss anything...

Then in a few days I'll go in and format it all nice with the proper links on the front page.

THANKS!!

That Avedis looks gorgeous. it seems like $600-800 is the magic range for 500-series modules. So much easier to justify.

I thought it was contributing to the conversation.

Well instead of telling us stuff, you're telling us you KNOW stuff.

But won't tell us what it is.

The message board equivalent of "I know something you don't know."

Meh. I'd just rather know.

Oh, and no offense to you at all. My usage of the peeing smiley is definitely not as severe as when other people use it.

Nope...that project is just in the back of my head, chillin, waiting for me to get off my ass and finish about 30 other various misadventures in electronics. So I guess I lied a little when I said it was "next"...
Sorry to sideline the thread, back to actual units that exist in this world!

It seems that purple audio is doing also a rack at a very reasonable price

And they write that there is going to be something like a mixer (2 slots). Slot 9 should be ready for their special module Purple Audio Moiyn (8x2) Mixer Module

Sweet Ten Rack / Purple Audio

So the Germanium (Chandler) 500 pre requires a Chandler PSU to replace your lunchbox's original supply, apparently. Is this just for certain racks, or does no one make a rack that will properly power the Chandler? I know at SCA Tim is designing a special kind of 500 rack so he can get around the apparent limitations of standard 500 form factor (you'll have to use some special add-on to insert non-SCA pres in to the SCA rack).

Would someone more knowledgeable than me like to elaborate on these issues? Is the Chandler PSU necessary to get a Germanium?

the API lunchbox is not known for its great power supply.
it is not as well designed as others.
this is off the Chandler website.

Germanium 500 will not work with racks with internal power supplies, or the API Lunchbox.
among its faults, the API is a noisy supply, this is why many prefer external power supplies.
i would suggest, if you are getting a new rack look at the B.A. or the O.S.A.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the API power supply.

There is only one module it doesn't play well with and that is the Germ500.

Thanks for the replies, folks. But it can't simply be noise that makes them say "Germanium 500 will not work with racks with internal power supplies." Could it?

rediculous post pan60 - dissing the lunchbox out of the blue!........grown tired of helping pimp a-designs stuff and moved onto power-supplies/500 frames have we??!!!.........funny! --------------------if manufacturers want in on the 500 format they need to make em fit/comply with the format power supplies etc (what is this whole 'allience' thing for anyway?)......if they don't play nicely with the 'standard' frames then it is obvious they are jumping on the 500 gravy train with products that should perhaps stay as/be racked with specific power supplies...........all of a sudden a coupla units have appeared that don't play nice and then everyone is up in arms about the api powersupply............BAH!

i am not saying it is bad.
i am saying just saying the majority of engineers i have spoken with have discussed in detail some of the API lunchbox power supplies issues, the main reason being noise.
and from having had both in my hands, i prefer say the BA as it is just a more solid better built box, in my opinion.

you are out in left field.
i take great pride in being impartial, in all my reviews.
i will help promote any product, and or company, i like and feel goes the extra mile for their customer.
rather it A,B,or C, as well as others, if you read you will see that to be the case!
but for the record yes the P-1 is among my favorite 500 form pres, for the majority of what i want, and i am not the only one around here that likes the P-1 or the Pacifica, as well as many other offering from A-Designs.
as for API i have no issue with them at all.
but if i am going to recommend a lunchbox, it is going to be what i feel is the best i am aware of, sorry if is not what you pimp!
i do not feel the API lunchbox is the best lunchbox avalible, and if you are going to be using pre, eqs, and comps that are third party ( some part of and some not part of APIs alliance), then i feel their are much better choices to be made.

now, mr NineteenBillion is obviously looking at the Germanium, i have tried to answer his question and give what i feel is solid, good, advice.
anyone looking at getting a Germanium needs to read what they say on their web site!
that is why i posted the clip.
and for the record Chandler is not the only company that mentioned noise issues with the API lunchbox.
