Microphone?

Hi Everyone,

If you only had these microphones, which would you use recording vocals?

Shure Sm7
Electro-Voice EV 15/16
Beyer Dynamic M200/M500

Have a great new year!

i'd use whichever sounded best on the source. and that decision would change with the vocalist, signal chain, song, my mood, etc.

i have actually used all of these mics on vocals. the beyer should be great cuz it´s a ribbon but it just didn´t work for the singer i was working with. sm7 is really a great mic and i have heard some awesome things come out of it. very smoothed out but not dull. the re15/16 is my personal fav. can´t get it to sound bad. don´t let the fact that you can get em on ebay for 25 bucks deceive you. maybe it´s just the singers i have worked with but for rock it´s amazing. i think frank sinatra or some old famous singer loved these. i heard an engineer call it the poormans neumann. which is crazy cuz it really sounds nothing like a condenser and which neumann? maybe he just meant that it´s great.
