Bottle Rocket: Stage 1 VS Stage 2

Lordy... being a noob makes microphone purchasing very difficult!

So, I'm wandering aimlessly around the world of microphones, as I am looking to upgrade my home studio... I don't even want to tell you what I record with now.. it's shameful, really.

Anyhow, I have it narrowed down to about 15 mics , and two of them are bottle rockets. Does anybody out there have experience dealing with BOTH of them? Beside the obvious (price points and Tube Vs solid state), what are some of the big differences in sound quality, tonality, etc?

Stage 1 gives me more money to spend on capsules, which is very appealing, but I don't want to cry and cry and cry and have to upgrade down the road. Both are very very quiet, which seems to be difficult to find with the tubers, so that has me leaning to stage 2. I hate my life.

Thanks,

Luke

I can't comment on the differences between them as I haven't used both.

BUT...

In case you didn't know: the BLUE Bottle Rockets used to be known as the RED Type A and Type B mics. You might be able to find good deals on used RED mics. As far as I have been able to find out, they are identical except for the name and finish, but I can't say 100%.

Cool, thanks guys. I'm goin' for the solid state... cheaper, and seems to have better experiences associated with it.
