Hmm, this is not normal behaviour.. The 24>16 bit is no issue. However, PT has a tendency to get loud clicks and pops when you insert track/bounce/start/stop when some plugs/plugin combination are inserted. It doesnt seem like this is the problem here though..

Time to time I met protools rigs with the same problem, but never found a solution for it. I can tell you that I saw big protools rigs those built and tweaked by real specialists did the same you've mentioned. My latest and probably weirdest was hd3 accel. On two completely different systems. The problem might be inside me. Somehow I was never have luck with digidesign systems.

Thats weird...

I've been working on PT rigs since ProTools III (1996), Mixplus, HD3, Digi 001, Digi 002, Mbox, Mpowered. I have never heard of this before

The noise is exactally like turning up an old fx box then putting a gate on it..
It would make more sence if the noise stayed..turn up the bast piece of gear there is noise down there somewhere...but then quiet...Mabe clock issues....I need to test....
