| Third Eye Blind bass tone Does anyone know any details about the signal chain for Salazar's bass? He has the ultimate rock bass tone in my opinion. Any tips on how to get that? Obviously there's the "tone is in the hands..." issue, but I'm just talking gear-wise, like direct, or mic'd, and if so what mic/amp/cab... Rob

| Gk 400Rb + Condenser mic + DI Hi, i think a GK, the engineer put a good condenser mic near the speaker to give the " proximity " sound and record the direct sound too. In mix, they blend the 2 signals, this top artists use the finest in audio, like ssl audio, api, neve consoles and, for example, Geddy Lee from Rush use Avalon DI in bass to reinforce the sound. Peace, |

| Can't help with the bass tone, but an interesting tidbit about 3EB... I thought their 1st CD sounded awesome....every piece of it...looked up their producer... Eric Valentine For those guitarheads back in the 90's (I am one of them!), he was in a band called T-Ride...what a great CD! They basically got the label to buy them studio gear instead of going into a studio...I guess the rest is history for Eric. |
