Thread Starter | Shockmounts to fit RE20 The shockmounts for this mic are insanely overpriced! And it looks to me like it fits just like a clamp - the only place where the mount actually touches the mic is at the back which means it should be possible to use another, more modestly priced shockmount. It's actually a pretty weird construction this 309A original mount. Anyone know any other make shockmounts in particular...that would fit the RE20?? |

Sorry to resurrect such an ancient thread, but... I want a shockmount for a Heil PR40 (looks like roughly the same size as an RE20), but don't want the SM-2 shockmount Heil makes -- it has a blank flag on it, and looks like it would be top-heavy if used upside down... or, at least, it looks kind of ridiculous outside of a radio booth. And, they're $95. Anyone know of a good answer to Pet's question?

The black plastic shock mount that AKG has for the 414 should work for the RE20. I've also used them on a Neumann M147. Got mine for about $60. Twist clamp that will work with a fairly wide range of smaller sizes.

Like this one? http://www.vintagemicrophone.com/JSh...ct.php?xProd=2 That's a little cheaper. We're getting there.

http://www.shockmount.com/page2.html I've got several of these shocks. Don't use it to hold your heavy, smooth tube mic vertically, as it won't (bands are elastic, not rubber), but great for end-fire type mics, especially something with 'ridges' all down the length of the thing like an RE20. I use a pair of these for my RCA BK-5B ribbons, both of which are missing their yolk mounts. These work perfectly. Great price too. Joel
