Distressor in 1:1

I used the Distressor yesterday in 1:1 on a bass that was already compressed.

It sounded fantabulous! It did excellent "exciting" and saturation. If I cranked it hard things would get really dirty and thick which might be appropriate for heavy metal, but for jazzy bass 4-10db on the meters made the bass more lively and musical.

Joy!

A local engineer friend has been raving about doing the same thing across the mix bus.

I was out of town touring for the last couple weeks so I finally sent my El-8 in to get the mod's done to it - can't wait to get it back and check it out!!

Hmm I do have the brit mod but I didn't have it engaged. I think the distortion in 1:1 is in all units.

Just curious, are you employing one of the "Dist" modes with th 1:1 ratio?

You'll get thickening with or without the DIST1/2 engaged. I used it without I think.

Hey Everybody,

When I'm using my distressor in 1:1, what does it mean when the gain reduction meter is going off? I thought 1:1 meant no compression, and therefore no gain reduction. What gives? It doesn't sound like it's compressing.....

Thanx
