New Avid 004 Control Surface?

I was scrolling the Avid site today looking at Avid Firewire interfaces. If you look at the thumbnail for the 003 factory complete. It is a different interface than the 003. It has the same colors as the new M-Box. Check it out Avid | Audio | MIDI Interfaces Firewire Audio Interfaces

Unless they've changed the pic by now, this is just 003 pic with different lighting.

It did look wider, but it is also shown from a different angle, so could be just an optical illusion. I zoomed up as far as Safari would allow, and all controls and logos seemed to be the same. I don't believe this is the new 004 from what I've seen, just seems like different lighting. Just my guess....

There is also the potential that they are repackaging/branding the 003. Every 003 I have seen still sports the digidesign logo. I don't think it looks "completely" different. To me it looks close enough that the electronics are probably still identical.

If avid were to release a 004 control surface, it would look quite a bit different than the 003.

It's just a different exposure setting or different lighting.

Calm down...

but d00d...that thing looks sooo not like an 003 lol. But yes, It is probably dumb as hell to assume it is an "004" though. I guess I just got a little over-siked...sitting inside mixing for a week straight will do that to you though!

I even wonder if there will be a console version of the 003 successor. Seems like it would detract from potential Euphonix MC Mix/Control sales down the road...

I cant understand why they cant do a controller that is expandable, so you can buy additional faders so it is made useful.

The dream would be like the Euphonix with expandable options + and the ultimate dream --> D-command EQ knobs

hmmmm at first i was going to say your trippin and its the same BUT look at what they did with the new avid interfaces compared to the older 192 IO, same shape but just darker color...so perhaps. But i still think its a stretch.

I think they next version of 00X is going to be way different myself.

I wish they would make an interface with control surface that was rack mountable. No preamps. LTC timecode would be nice instead of an MTC translator. DC power and bring back the feature of the 002 where it could operate as a standalone mixer too.

What I really wish they would do is simply license the A&H R24 and just acknowledge that it is a great design, hard to improve upon. Make an R8 version for portability.

003/004

Sorry to burst your bubble but I looked at the source code for the page and the picture linked as the thumbnail is labeled

<a href="/US/products/003-Factory-Complete"><img src="/Static/resources/common/images/products/thumb_70x70_003factorycomplete.png" alt="003 Factory Complete" /></a>

Maybe it's a redesign and not an update, who knows
