your personal Holy Grail of Gear ?

Mine would have to be:

U-47
Fairchild 660

I know with those alone I could conquer the Pop Entertainment World once and for all. 'Tis my quest! None shall stand in my way!

Until such time as this quest is quested, I will just have to make do.
But the Holy Grail has taken me in many interesting directions.

Neve 8068 and a great live room. With that and my Nuendo rig... I would need nothing else...

Well... except some monitors... and maybe some distressors.... and this lamp... and my thermos.....

just like in the "Da Vinci Code", the holy grail is not an object itself. But rather a secret.

an age old secret that goes against years and years of the popular doctrine.

This secret is......

Pro Tools is unnecessary.

I thought everyone knew that.

My grail (today anyway) would be a Wunder PEQ1. $2400 for one channel is a bit steep for me right now, so I'll have to make due with my Biz through a 560.

How about a "Mint" Ampex MM1200 16 trk, new heads, all the mods and a never ending supply of fresh, non-shedding Scotch 250 to run on it. Also throw in an old Neve, API, (name ur flavor here), heck I'd even settle for my old Spectrasonics 400 series with 20 inputs, 8 busses and 2 rev returns. Back in the day Memphis was an Ampex 456 town, but I got my hands on some 250 every now and then. I really liked the 250, sounded more like a "Record" on playback without fudging with it, but most things came in on or the client requested 456. It was a PITA the change the setup on the machines for the occasional roll of 250 and it seemed to shed a bit more than the 456. Well...Shucks!

...in mint condition, for $250 total.

On the reality level, space. A big enough place for a real control room and live rooms.

On a lesser level, Prophet 5. I had one, purchased at the bottom of the price curve. Theives got it, and I've never really been able to justify replacement cost.

not even a question...

one piece?

The Old 8078 Monserrate board that used to reside in A&M studio 'A'. Originally commissioned for AIR/Monserrate, it was an 8078 built to George Martin & Geoff Emerick's specification's, with slight different (and more musical) EQ points. A sheer beauty. If I were to acquire that, I'd be done ever needing another consoled.

I miss that room.

Mine is as follows

GML 8900, 8200
Amek 9098i

414 TLII's
C800-G's
Distressors
LA2A's

I hate to admit it, but I would really like to leave LE behind, so...

Well they came out as links, but I could use an HD rig.

Some remarkably talented songwriters and musicians with the proper machinery in place to get those songs played on the radio. The songwriters/musician's part I have covered... it's the machinery part that is lacking from the program.
