James,

Pompano is my old stomping ground. I'm in Miami now, but would love to pop up to Lauderdale to hang with ya, provided the schedule works. I'll give you a ring tommorrow afternoon, and see if we can hook up.

BTW, thanks again for the CD and Booklet!!

It looks like we are going to have a mini gearslutz get together, possibly on Monday. I just spoke with Charles Dye and AcousTronic, so there you have it.
Do we have any other takers? Going once, going twice....

James and Charles and the bunch......

Wish I could be there with ya... I have a session down there in 2 weeks. In Fort Lauderdale on Las Olas Blvd, you have to go to O'Hara's on Monday night. This is a must, (if you guys can make it). My old Band, "Breeze" plays there on Monday nights, and they are known as the best Classic Rock band on the East Coast. My buddy Roy,the singer/guitarist sounds like any artist the band plays. Totally awesome talent. The drummer Larry is my best friend, and is a great drummer....solid and dynamic. This section when I was playing bass for them used to back up Elliot Randall..."Reelin in the Years guitar solo". Trust me on this one.. there is no cover at O'Hara's and the place is always hopping. Let me know if you want to go, I'll tell the guys to be looking for y'all.

BTW....Charles...I got MILAR.....love it....mean it...!!!

dig,

Kenny

Breeze are my BOYS!!!! I've known Mike, Roy and Larry for 20 years. Roy was my vocal idol as a kid. That dude is flawless. Larry use to play in my studio in the early 90's. Monday night is definalty going to be O'Hara's for me. When I was a kid I use to go see them every night and I'm talking EVERY night for years. I use to see them before they were Breeze, when they were Sahai and played at Abbey Road Steak House in Lighthouse Point. They were killing all the Steely Dan, James Taylor etc...

Good talkin' to you too Charles.

When I know about Monday I'll let you guys know.

OH S**T> What's up Kenny, I know from the rock band Serious Stuff, I was Larry's buddy who use to come to see you at the Pompano Pier. Let's hook up!

You played on a record of mine and some client stuff years ago. You one bad mo fo on bass! That's was back when we had the ADAT's/Mackie board thing going on. Good to hear from you. If you ever in LA I always need bass. Also, those guys knew me by my old stage name 'Jason'! That's actually how you knew me.

I played at the Wharf too - way back in late '80's ('87ish) with John Catalano.

I'd love to meet up with you youngsters. Mango's/O'Hara's works for me.

Steve,

I think I may know you, your name is familiar. I grew up in Pompano - Sample/Federal. Did you ever go to Captain's Music off Sample and 95? I grew up working in that music store in high school in the late 70's till I left for LA in 86'. Back then everyone called me Jimmy Lugo and then I changed my name to Jason in the mid 80's.

I use to look like this:
<img src="http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a53/jameslugo/james_guitar.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">
Does anyone have any hairspray? lol I was in rock god mode back then.

Did you know Rick Atheras? or Sky? or Kirk Adams?

Kenny, I'll tell Larry you said hi on Monday!

Weird ass world...

Ahh, the big hair/bigger reverb days of the 80's. I don't miss either.

I spent most of the late 70's/early 80's in the Kenny Martell Concept thing. We were at the Brickyard and other places. Outside of that I did the lounge thing for a while, a year off and on with John Catalano, some big band stuff, Al Shikaly club date music and 10 years as a salesman at Ace Music Miami.

I'm sure I sold you or your band mates some kind of midi thing or another.

Oh my god, what an amazing night! People in attendence were:
Charles Dye, Screws and his son, URS and his wife, my mom and my brother. First off everyone hit it off and we were laughin' and BS'ing like old buddies.

Steve Cruz and I know each other very well and didn't realize it till we saw each other face to face. Talking with Steve was incredible and did my heart good. His son rocks too.

Charles is the man! Him and I stayed all night and took the party out to the car to listen to music and talk turkey.

URS (his handle is something like that) he's an interesting guy with a great sense of homur and his wife is a hoot. Her and my mom hit it off.

Well, my mom and brother were my mom and brother, no big mystery there for me. I pretty much know them alreay.

There's the line up. Dinner was very cool and fun. Then we went to see Breeze. WOW! If you're ever in Florida you have to see Breeze. That is probably one of the greatest cover bands on earth!!! Hands down. Breeze was amazing and everybody was tripping on them. In some way everybody knew everybody - Breeze included.

Anyway, I'm really excited right now and that's why I'm writing all this. Seeing Steve was unbeleivable, the things we talked about brought back so much. And sitting in my car listening to music and talking about music and records with someone of Charles' calliber is priceless. Thanks you guys, I'll never forget tonight. You made my vacation. Gearslutz rules!

p.s. We missed you Kenny, Larry did a quick impersonation of you. It was flattering...

Quick impersonation...??? Why do my buds always pick on me? ...must be a bass player thing. LOL. Glad you guys had a great time, and glad you got "Breezed". I love those guys, and played bass for them for two years. Larry was my best man, and we stay in touch all the time, especially about The New York Yankees.

Charles, I finished viewing MILAR last night, and BIG RESPECT bro, and I am impressed how you handled all the remarks about the video edits and background music. It didn't bother me. Well. congrats on a great product. dig.

Best,

Kenny
