I Can't Believe I'm Gonna Knock a Springsteen Recording

How can you not love Springsteen? But I gotta say, I heard Born in the USA (the song, not the whole album) for the first time in a while the other day. I can't tell you how much I HATED the sound of the toms. I had never noticed it in the previous bajillion times I'd heard the song. Anybody else notice this?

i LOVE Springsteen as an artist and songwriter. He stands for something big, he stands with the people and he cajoles, instructs, inspires and points the way for those whose voices aren't heard or who's hopes and dreams are hanging by a thread.

On the other hand I have not always been a fan of his band and the 'more is better' approach to arranging and playing (as opposed to a 'less is more' approach). But at least it was raw and powerful.

Haven't heard the song in a while and if the toms sound sucky who cares? During the Reagan era we needed an anthemic reminder that there is another side to the Republican postcard view of the country and world.

He still rules.
