Why did the MACKIE 824 go down in price soo much?

a few years back they where $800 each. now its for the pair!! (both used prices (vMKI)

genelecs are still up there though so im wondering why did the mackies go down in price so much. ?

They never was worth the price they were asking in the first place. I've compared them to the....Behringer Truths and guess what, they lost.

If I was to guess I would say it's because they released the next generation MK2s and now you can even get those on the used market. I still really like the old 824s though.

I never was a fan of those, fatiguing, and the bass is artificial. Tweets were splashy sounding to me...but hey different strokes; a lot of people love them...

Agreed they might have not been worth the original asking price.... but I've also compared them against the Behringers, and... no contest, not even close.. Mackie's won all the way. Different ears I guess

Supply & Demand

I suspect that the number of units sold over the past ten years or so is quite large. With such a large supply, it's inevitable that some people will upgrade. With a large used supply being the result, the price goes down.
