AT 4050--damage from mic of amp?

I got a nice sound micing my Fender Super Reverb with an AT 4050. It captured the sound of the amp quite nicely, especially when mixed with a Shure SM57 (an inch away from a speaker).
I was afraid to crank the volume up on the Reverb, fearing I could damage the 4050. I had the 4050 maybe about 6 inches from the amp. How close should I put the 4050?
I've been using a cheaper condenser further back.
Do I have to worry about damage with the 4050 that close if I turn the amp up to the sweet spots (4-6 in volume?)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure of the official spec, but I use a 4050 on beater head kick and snare commonly (with the 10db pad engaged).

Good luck. The 4050 is avery nice mic, although it enjoys no darling status these days.

no...

from AT website ....

MAXIMUM INPUT SOUND LEVEL 149 dB SPL, 1 kHz at 1% T.H.D.;
159 dB SPL, with 10 dB pad (nominal)

that's pretty loud !!!!!! - i wouldn't want to be in the same room (or next door) if your amp pumps out 159 dB at 6"

AT 4050

I got the 4050 for a nice price. It's not a bad first condenser microphone. It has done well for acoustic guitar, amp cab and vocals thus far. It does well for anything in front of it. It doesn't have the uniqueness to give it darling status. Great versatility, but not the mojo to make it a great mic.
Thanks for the dB readings. I have no idea how many db. That Reverb gets mightly loud, but it is only 40W. Looks like I'm good to go with it.
Thanks.
