Protools 7 with Prism rig?

Can anyone amongst this illustrious forum community advise whether the upgrade to Protools 7 (HD) for Mac OS X will affect the operability of our Prism ADA-8 rig?
All our converters are Prism and we have no Digidesign units apart from the Sync IO.
I've read of problems encountered by Apogee owners (solvable by firmware updates, I understand).
Are there ADA-8 owners out there that have successfully performed the PT 7 upgrade?

I've e-mailed Prismsound, but so far have not received a response.

Any input Welcome.

Thanks, Ron

Hi,

I am not 100% sure but expect no problems for you as the protocol spoken to the converters doesn't change.

My advice to you howver is to try to slightly move away from the Pro Tools affair and try using your ADA-8 on firewire with Logic Audio Pro 7. Why? Well, you'll still be able to do post editing, to my opinion more easy then in Pro Tools and you're no longer stuck with the pro tools upgrades, the hardware exchanges (rendering your older hardware seriously devaluated!!!) etc etc. Short, you lose nothing and get rid of a lot!
It is not unthinkable that digi one day decides to encrypt its protocols to their converters rendering the far better ones incompatible!

As far as the plug ins are concerned, most of them run native anyway and a Mac Quad G5 is probably not that much less powerfull than HD Accel...

I am doing so and so far everything still works.

Kind Regards
Lawrence

Thus far on the initial tests we have had no problems with PT 7.1. No firmware updates required and we have several users on 7.1 running fine.

Apologies for not replying sooner.

Best regards
