Critique my setup please.

I recorded some of the best sounding vocal tracks I have ever done today with this setup: Groove Tubes AM62 mic, 30 degrees off axis, with a Stedman pop filter 2"s in front of it going into a Peavey VMP-2 with the high shelf down 2db, then into a Drawmer1969's line input for some mild compression. I know that's a lot of tubes in the chain, but it sounded great. Has anyone tried this combo before? And what do think of it?

Seriously, if that's the sound that worked for the track it's perfect.

That axiom about "too many" tubes is a myth. If you are using high quality well designed equipment, there is no such animal.

I regularly record with a Lawson L47mp (tube) into a TubeTech preamp (tube) into a Millenia TwinCom (tube path selected) with no problems whatsoever. If I had a great tube EQ, I wouldn't hesitate to throw that in there as well.
