Unhappy Yamaha MSP7 part #s needed. Please help!

Hey all.

A guest engineer of mine managed to blow both drivers and a tweeter on my Yamaha MSP7s which put me out of work for as long as it takes to replace them .

On top of that I can't find part #s for those anywhere. Has anyone around here ever had to replace them? I would greatly appreciate any help with this.

Peace.

i hope you're not in the same boat i'm in. i have a pair of msp10's with blown tweeters. i contacted yamaha only to find out they don't sell parts for them anymore. my only hope is to find someone selling a broken pair of msp10's with good tweeters i can pull. i have two very big, very heavy, expensive paperweights. they are extraordinarily great at it though! my paper is going NOWHERE! please let me know if you find someone that stocks parts for these older yamaha monitors.

Wow. That's disturbing. I sure will. Could they by any chance be the same tweeters as the MSP7s ?

not sure which the msp7 uses. i know the msp10 uses a 1" "titanium dome". i'll look into which parts are interchangeable between the two models.

i just sent an email to the yamaha support person i had previously conversed with regarding part #'s. i asked if they had a part # list for both monitors so we can see which parts, if any, are interchangeable. from the description it looks like they may share tweeters, maybe more. i'll keep you posted.

Cool man. Thank you. Surprisingly enough Yamaha Pro Audio Russia turned out to be a lot more professional than the US branch ;-). Here's a part number for ya:

X8357A00 SPEAKER 2.5CM 6OHMS MSP7 Studio

Please keep me posted as to whether they are interchangeable 'cause I have msp10s in another room that might need servicing in the future.

after being in contact with 6 different people at Yamaha support over the past 4 months i finally got one that knew what they were talking about!

they do stock the tweeters for the MSP10 STUDIO model, which i have, but not the original MSP10. and just for the record, the tweeter is not interchangeable between the MSP7 and MSP10 Studio.

just in case anyone in the future is searching for this, the part number for MSP10 Studio tweeter is X2486a00, $101.77/ea.

I have the MSP7's myself, and am surprized to hear these problems you guys are having with the tweets.

How did it happen?

i bought mine second-hand for super cheap assuming i could replace the tweeters and make out like a bandit. i don't know what the guy did to them, they're demolished. i was very disappointed to hear i wouldn't be able to buy replacement parts after initially talking to yamaha. but i was equally as refreshed today to find out that i can afterall. i'm going to end up with $1200 monitors for $400 so i can't complain.

I blew the tweeters in My MSP-7Studio with a 22k tone at full blast !

Haha....I thought I had gone deaf when I didn´t hear any high´s anymore.

The HF drivers in the MSP series are propriatery Yamaha parts. You won´t find any replacements anywhere but from Yamaha.

If none of you get anywhere with this, I should be able to help. I work for a Yamaha dealer and can simply call their parts dept and get the part #'s and/or order them for you. I won't be back in the shop til Monday, so get ahold (pm) of me then if you haven't had any luck.

Great. we would be glad to hear from your updates. Unlike NS10s, the MSP speakers (woofers or tweeters) are not that commercially sold, on EBAY e.g.

X2486a00

This is for the MSP 10 Studio tweeter, right?

I wonder if this works just fine with the original MSP10.

There's a last pair of MSP10 in our place, from a Yamaha store. For around 480$, I'm not sure if it really is a best buy knowing that both of the tweeters are dent. I even A/Bed them with the MSP5s. They seem to sound good.

I have an old tweeter that I could get the number off of. PM me if you need it. I have always found their support to excellent, I am surprised to hear people here had trouble. Will look into this one!
