Thread Starter | Trident 80b PSU
Hello all! My first post on these forums. A thrill to be a member. Anyway I'm starting to work on a Trident 80B and I can't seem to find any information on this console PSU. The manual I have has a bunch of pages missing (just the ones that refer to power handling) I understand that it has an outboard rackmountable PSU, I just need to know some specs on it, connecting wires, length of cable runs..... or anything else I need to know prior to bringing it in... Are there any other outbord modules that come with the desk? (I'm thinking something like the SSL 4K computer rack...) Any help will be gladly apreciated. Regards. |

Trident made some great boards....but they made rotten power supplies. First of all, you're likely to not find any documentation on the power supply. They usually had the supplies made for them, and they seemed to switch suppliers every couple of years. I tried to get a schematic on a power supply for an 80b that was the second to last 80b they ever made....so you would have thought it was easier to obtain than the early runs....but no....they literally had no documentation on it. Your best bet....(and sonically superior too) will be to order a multi-volt supply from acopian. This will make the console perform better than stock. Don't try to bring the original supply back to life..... Kirt Shearer Paradise Studios |

Here's whats in my Manual: But be aware that the +-20V should actually be about +-17v-17.5v.

First of all, many thanks! thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup Secondly: Obostic, is your PSU rackmunted in another room? Is it noisiy? Are there other rackmountable equipment that connect to the 80b such as a computer rack, or something like that (similar to SSL?) Thirdly, they are confirming that the PSU is new (not Trident stock) but I still don't know its exact specs. I'll post them here for future reference as soon as I get them. Cheers to all! |
