What does a AKG C451 EB look like?

On the AKG 451 and for ebay identification purposes; anyone know how to tell an EB from a modern version [ or an E? ] ?
[ apart from maybe the model number being printed on the body obviously ].

is there any change in design/colour/grill,etc?

The only difference with B version is IIRC switch for HP, red one. Capsule is demountable (in B and EB), in new ones it is not.

They typicall say on the mic..... unless the paint has worn.

They either say C 451 EB and are black. Or -

they say C 451 E and are silver (mostly)

or the new C 451 B is also silver, but has no screw-on CK1, and is not supposed to be as good.

I have 3 C451EB's all identical. I can post pics, but they look just like the one above.

skybluerental is online now
my pair and every other 451 EB i have ever seen all look like the one in the photo above.

by the way, the 451 EB is a great microphone.
OH's, piano, strings, AC gtr............ very versatile and useful.

i am told the newer ones are rubbish and based on some of the tracks i have received to mix that were recorded with a newer 451's, i tend to believe that they are in fact rubbish.

good luck on your search.

Re: What does a AKG C451 EB look like?

The original was a proper AF condenser mic. with interchangeable heads, the new one is an electret with a fixed head.

All original 451s were proper condensers - it's just the new one that's an electret.
