Found: Old rackmount frame with "RME" cards

Heya.

I have stumbled across this odd bit'o'kit just now. It is a 3RU rackmount frame, just like a regular DA frame with 11 "RME 319A1" cards in it, and a power supply.

On the front of each card is an EQ and gain section. In the EQ section there is an in/out switch, an EQ pot, and a threeway switch indicating either 5K, 15K, or 20K. In the gain section, there is another threeway switch indicating 0, 20, and 40 (i'm assuming dB) a continuous gain pot, and an overload LED.

There is no indication anywhere of what the pinout on the back of the cards is, so I can't hook it up to see what it does, so I was hoping for some hints/tips from you slutz.

I don't believe it has anything to do with the company RME that exists today, as they have only been around since '96. This bit of gear looks 20 years old.

If anyone has any idea what this is, or could be, or has any links that may useful, please let me know ! I don't think I have stumbled across anything amazing, but I am curious

Cheers.

Hey there Nut,

resurrecting this thread thanks to co incidence.

this is weird, Im also in sunny Sydney,

Ive just stumbled across the same thing from a skip where a community radio station had thrown stuff out.

Same rack with the same modules, also power supply, monitor amp and an old BE stereo limiter as well as some housed triad output transformers. Probably all needs work but at first glance most stuff seems pretty good.

Anyway was wondering if you had any luck with these or managed to find out anything more. I'm curious as well as everything seems pretty solidly built and must be pretty good to a point.

Anyone know anything about old RME gear (Radio Manufacturers Engineers I think they were called).

cheers

Tim
