ams neve 1073 dpd connecting to midiman delta 66

Is it possible to connect the AES output from the 1073dpd to my S/PDIF input on the midiman delta 66? I've read that it maybe works with a neutric impedance converter. Is this idea completely bonkers or do I've to invest in a soundcard with proper AES inputs, if so: wich one? I mainly use Cubase SX on my DAW.
Maybe it is better to choose a 1073dpa and a decent AD converter...?

A good explination:

One possible inexpensive solution:

The AD in the DPD is reputedly stellar. Frankly, I think that deal is hard to beat considering their quality and the price for 2 channels of AD.

I don't think you're bonkers. Once you are converted to digital, your Delta 66 should be OK, unless something is broken in it. But, I have heard that there are some undesirable electronics that the signal passes through in boxes like the Delta, that cannot be avoided and may induce jitter.

I guess a nice card like the Lynx LS-AES (4 AES i/o, for about $400) would be ideal, but ya go with what you can afford.

thanks for the detailed info.

I think conversion from AES to S/PDIF has one problem: the 1073 dpd has two AES outputs for left and right and the delta 66 has only one (combined L/R) input.

What do you think about this approach: swaping the delta 66 for a LynxTwo and getting a 1073 DPA instead. Are the converters on the LynxTwo that bad compared to those on the DPD? Well in any case it would be way better then my actual configuration I assume.
