recommended headphones

What headphones would you recommend in the $100-$200 range.
This is for use at home, mostly guitar, vocal, synthesizers, piano.
Of course, for music listening.
Currently I have a crappy set of Koss headphones. (UR/29). I guess they're not bad for what they cost. I need an upgrade. I have two very small children and work at night.
Thanks for the recommendations.

spend a little extra dough and get a pair of grados (125's or higher), ultrasones, or sennheiser 600'ss or 650's. don't let people tell you that their 7506's "sound just fine" reference headphones they are not!

behold! linkage!

The AKG K271s have been doing really well for me. They are miles better than the 7506. I'd like to hear the Ultrasones sometime too.

I apologize in advance for not telling you about $100 - $200 headsets.
If you can hold out, wait and save a bit longer it will be worth it.
(Just my opinion, and a strong one at that!)

The following are available in the studio here and I
have spent time with all of these.

Ultrasone PROline 750 around $400
Sennheiser HD650 around $450 - $500
Sony MDR-7509
AKG K271 Studio

When you look at the specs they really don’t tell you much.
Some specs do not state the +/- dB which tells you the spec mean s
almost nothing,

Point being, please listen to anything you can get your hands on.
I think you will find that like me the differences between headsets
are UNBELIEVABLE. You cannot just use price or sales hype.

I prefer the Sennheiser HD650 or Ultrasone PROline 750 depending on
what I am doing. (When I first heard Ultrasones I did not care for them.
Must be a developed taste. Because these became one of my favorites.
