Thread Starter | Maximum minutes on a CD, vinyl preparation Up until now I have burned cd's on my TDK 80 minute CDR's. What is the maximum time alotted on a cd for mixes I will send to have mastered - produce a glass master, duplicated, sold, etc (need to prepare how many songs / minutes) I would also like to print a bunch on vinyl, any recommendations on preparation - maximum time for vinyl? |

| Gear Head | last i knew redbook was 74 minutes.. ? but i think i've sent 80 minute [though only like 30 minute long] CDrs to be pressed. vinyl.. check out here.. http://indiecentre.com/ ask the plant your gonna press with.. everyone will tell you different. i've done 6 min on 1 side of a 7" at 33.. had up to 20 something on 1 side of a 12". you lose volume and response the longer your make your side.. cause the grooves need to be cut closer together, there for shallower.. in general the highest output and quality i think is 7 min at 45 on a 12".. some place's will cram, other places won't. can be dangerous to the cutting head i think. panda |
