Beesneez Arabella and 60hz hum issue

Anyone else ever had an issue with any of the Beesneez mics and a hum issue? No matter what pre I go thru(Great River,Pacifica,Chandler,OSA) when opened up, and not cranked, I get a 60hz hum. This is the only mic I have this happening with. I had not noticed it early on because I was using it as a room mic but when I was going to try it on a lower level source(acoustic gtr and bass) I discovered this. Any thoughts or ideas,or info on this out there somewhere?

Thanks
Martin

Not yet. Thought I'd ask around before making that inquiry, not wanting to accuse him of having mics or power supplies with any possible "issues".

I would think Ben might want to solve the problem if there is one rather than you telling everyone there might be problem?

I have a few Beez Neez now, and had an issue with one. Talk to them, and they will sort it asap. They are great.

Interesting. Both Pelusos and Pearlmans occasionally have this problem (or at least I've read about it in other threads). Does the BeezNeez share any components with mics made by these manufacturers?

I dont think that has anything to do with the matter. One can not possibly forsee a cap blowing up. If and when it does, you just have to replace it, its a 2 minute job once you've isolated which one. (assuming that its a capacitor).

To the original Poster, Call/Email Ben. He will sort it out as quickly as possible.

Re: Beesneez Arabella and 60hz hum issue

Pan my man there seams to be this rash of "I'm not sure if this is a problem, is it just me? " threads!
I understand, people are afraid they might look stupid in front of the manufacture, or they hope that the new piece they got is in need of a simple ajustment!
Look people CALL THE MANUFACTURE ! They know their gear! If it is YOU they look bad, stuff happens, UPS FEDEX ect could screw up log !
I know you want it to work but Ben knows his mics better than ME, PAN60, or anybody else !

Or you can sacrifice your favorite pre, dance naked on your roof and send $200 to me and it might work !

I have emailed Ben with the "specifics" of what is happening.
It goes through all sorts of weirdness when 1st fired up. Touching the body of the mic makes the hum worse, white noise kind of sound that calms down after about 15 minutes, turning the power supply upside down or sideways makes the "white noise sound" rise in volume, then diminish. Then, after a while, it all, settles, down, and seems normal. Seems like more than a "tube" issue. It all seems odd. But I'm sure I'll get it straightened out through Ben. I had just put out feelers for anyone else who "may" have had any similar issues.

hi guys. the only stupid question is the one you don't ask!!!

That hum sounds like an isolation problem. please get back to me, give me a call and i'll be able to give you an idea and a few suggestions, if it doesn't get fixed then i'll get you to send it back.

re; peluso and pearlman, our mics share no similar parts other than the fact that i make Dave's capsules. Any mic can be susceptable to hum, it is usually a simple earth issue. thanks.

thumbsup Seriously man, making public inquiries like this is really not cool to a boutique manufacturer's reputation. If you have a problem contact them first, if it doesn't get resolved, then come here.

My Arabella is absolutely hum-free and sounds like a million bucks.

FYI I noticed Ben's email had changed recently from ben@beesneezstudio.com.au to ben@beesneezmicrophones.com.au

Always best to call the man and talk to him personally, he's a great guy and will want to help you for sure.

My latest notice from my service provider about my email to Ben says "undeliverable" so far after 24.7 hours, so I can't truly get my info to him on what is currently happening with my mic and power supply issues.

Oh my, a name caller. is that what this has come to? How intelligent. Anyway, Ben did get one email a while back, has seen my post mentioning the current issues, and I haven't bitched about anything. And the name is Mr. Dumas to you, thank you VERY much.

If you have an alternate email account you could try sending from that. I have several and when the email provided by my isp gives me this kind of crap I have been able to send a message from say "gmail" without a problem.

I bought a second hand (older) Jade and it had a 60Hz hum issue. I called Ben, he told me to send it up. He fixed it, mailed it back within a week. It came back with at least if not lower noise floor than a Neumann TLM103 I had. I was very impressed. Ben is a great guy. I always call/email the manufacturers first.

I emailed Joe Malone of JLM Audio last weekend as I had a problem I had created in one of his kits. We exchanged several emails that night and he solved my problem. Joe's last email was at 10:36pm last sunday. That is what I call customer service.

Yeah, you're on to something there. Comcast, the useless f**ks they are, don't tell you why or when, or anything as far what's up with their service when it's not working. I used my Yahoo email acct. and "walla", Ben got that email and replied. So, no problem on his end communication-wise. Just the usual Mega-Corporation Internet control take your money and give you mediocre service bullshit.

Have a nice day!!

I would just like to ad to this post that after much back and forth communication across the Great Divide between the USA and Aussiland Ben provided me with a new supply and Gotham cable and all my issues were resolved. I was very relieved because i did not want to have to ship the mic back to him at this time. I also hear that Ben is in the process of setting up a warranty repair person(or persons?) in the US so it would be much easier, and less down time for anyone needing help with any Beesneez products.
Any corrections or input on this is appreciated.

Thanks
Martin
