Successful N147 grill repair

Yippee. In preperation for a gear swap, I wanted to fix a small dent that mysteriously appeared in the top of my Neumann 147.

First I removed the grill, and pushed the divot out with my fingers. That made the dent less obvious, but there was still a small flat spot. Then I took the grill to work for the final touch-up.

I took what amounted to a really long lap bar slide (8" X 3/4" diam. stainless steel bar with a round polished "bullet" end [a super long Latch Lake "Broz-O-Phonic" lap bar]) and put it in a vice, and used the bullet end to massage the flat spot out from the inside..

Flawless baby! So there's hope for all of those other dented mic grills out there.

Who says looks don't count?

And you said there wasn't any money to be made in slides! As a Neumann mic repair component, you should be able to get at least $160.00 for them. Maybe you could come visit folks here with the yacht that new income stream will get ya!

Is that a custom modified "Broz-O-Phonic" grill repair tool in your pocket, or are you glad to see me? It's a mighty phalllic tool, in a small diameter way.

We sell the regular "Broz-O-Phonic" Hawaiian Steel Bar for $24.98, so that very important extra 4 inches must be worth at least $135 more, right? After all, it can fix Neumann grills.........

So, 2leod, thanks for setting the price point. We're not just talking looks anymore, we're talking LENGTH!

The yacht shopping will have to wait until next week, I'm busy now.

Upon further reflection I believe our early estimates to be somewhat conservative. I could hook you up with a shop that could coat those babies with titanium nitride, making them super HARD ON the surface while retaining their toughness. I'm thinking in the 'hood of 60% markup for at least a 78% value add to the product. The Teutons will love 'em!

Creative thinking, BTW! As my hero and our national sage Red Green would say, " If the ladies don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy!"

Which is not to suggest the ladies wouldn't find you handsome...

Nor am I suggesting that I do, or do not for that matter, find you handsome....

NTTAWWT.....

Oh dear, this is getting messy..

(Attempting to bow out gracefully) - but that sure was handy!
