Thread Starter | SP/DIF Input Device Quality Let's say, for example, that I've got a pre that outputs stereo SP/DIF, and I want to get it into my laptop. Is there any reason why bringing the SP/DIF digital audio into the laptop using a Soundblaster USB device would sound worse than bringing it in using, say, a MOTU 828 MkII? |

| possibly. any digital interface has to clock accurately. lack of good clocking causes jitter. jitter is bad (search forums & google for loads and loads of reading). the real-world answer? probably not. unless you're comparing mytek & cheapo usb box. --jon oh yeah... and it's actually s/pdif. sony/philips digital interface. but who's counting? ![]()
